Donate to the Margaret Einspahr Memorial Scholarship for extraordinary youth volunteers! This annual award is presented at the Volunteer Center of Sacramento's Volunteer Spirit Awards.
Margaret “Maggie” Einspahr was one of the founding members of DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) and was an elected officer to the executive board for many years. Maggie served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services.
To honor Maggie’s leadership and dedication to the field of volunteerism, the Margaret Einspahr Memorial Fund was established after her death in September 1996. Through DOVIA, the fund is used to recognize an outstanding youth in volunteer service to the community. The award is presented annually at the Volunteer Center of Sacramento’s Spirit Awards Luncheon. It was formerly presented at the J.C. Penney’s Golden Rule Award Luncheon. Maggie was a strong supporter of recognizing volunteers. She had helped to organize the Golden Rule Award Luncheon and participated in it for nine years prior to her death.
