There are many ways to calculate Return On Volunteer Investment (ROVI). One simple way is to calculate all of the expenses your organization incurs to engage volunteers, such as recruitment expenses, staff time spent supervising volunteers and recognition activities. Once you’ve done this, you’ll have a rough estimate of the investment your organization currently makes in volunteers. This is a valuable exercise when looking externally for financial support from funders and foundations, as well as partnerships with community organizations and/or stakeholders. Come join us to learn about these techniques from the staff of Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership.
