What is DOVIA?
DOVIA, Directors of Volunteers in Agencies, is a networking organization for individuals who coordinate volunteer activities in the Sacramento area. DOVIA is comprised of various agencies ranging from social service, animal activism, youth programs, environmental causes and more.

What does DOVIA offer?
DOVIA is a resource for you! It offers ongoing events that specialize in volunteer management. Through monthly meetings and special half-day trainings, DOVIA allows you access to workshops and discussions regarding volunteer issues including: Volunteer recruitment, Volunteer retention, Volunteer recognition, Volunteer placement strategies, Legal issues surrounding volunteers, and more!

What else does DOVIA offer?
DOVIA also offers the chance to network. Networking with other members allows you to learn about other agencies in Sacramento that utilize volunteers, share ideas and challenges with others who share your job role and responsibilities, and receive feedback from other Volunteer Coordinators.

Why should I join?
Besides the many reasons listed above, DOVIA is a great place to meet new friends and those in your industry. Volunteer management is a difficult job - it’s always easier when you have a supportive network of volunteer coordinators at your fingertips.

How much does membership cost?
DOVIA membership runs for two years. A single membership is $35, an agency is $50. This fee will be pro-rated if you join in the middle of a two year term. Contact DOVIA for more info.

How many people constitute an agency?
Two.

If we sign up as an agency, can different people attend each meeting?
Yes, as long as it’s only two people.

How much are the monthly meetings?
$18 if you are a member.

How much are the half day trainings?
$35 if you are a member, $50 if you are not a member.
