    Staff and Volunteer Relations
    - Better With Training

Let's talk about how to ask and what to include in new hire staff training. As new staff on-board, you get the opportunity to introduce volunteerism within the organization to them.

This training is designed to empower you with knowledge and skills needed to create a positive and engaging onboarding experience that sets the stage to better relationships.

    Testimonial
Ms. Williamson has helped me to become better at my job and has championed me every step of the way, especially when I have doubted myself.

Angela Williamson has been involved with volunteer engagement and leadership for over 19 years in a museum and currently is the Volunteer & Community Relations Specialist for the Blood Bank of Delmarva. In 2024 she incorporated her Volunteer Engagement Accelerator consulting business to help organizations engage volunteers more effectively and efficiently making a great impact in their community. Angela has presented for AL!VE’s annual conference, Delaware State Office of Volunteerism Conferences, Delaware Association of Volunteer Administrators (DAVA), and Texas Volunteer Management Conference. She’s been on Nicole R. Smith’s podcast multiple times.

Angela was the president of DAVA for several years, and started an AL!VE Healthcare COP in 2020. She was awarded the AL!VE Impact Award in 2022. She volunteers in her local community. She is now an instructor for Northwest Oregon Volunteer Administrators Association (NOVAA) 101 courses.

Save the Date

DOVIA Sacramento hosts at least one monthly training opportunity the 2nd Thursday of the month as a "Lunch & Learn" at 11:30am PST or a special event such as our Annual Awards Ceremony each Spring. Save these times and dates on your calendars and look for event invitations in your emails and social media feeds.

*AL!VE Academy Monthly Webinars are free for Individual, Agency and Local Association members.  If you registered as a Local association member, like DOVIA Sacramento, please be sure you list your local association's acronym (DOVIA Sacramento ) in the registration code area. The general public is welcome to attend, but will be billed $25 after attending and will receive a copy of the slide deck, recording, and attendance certificate upon request.

  • Important notes:

    • Registration closes 5:00pm Pacific Time the day prior.
    • Our Board members are volunteers.  Once we are in the learning workshop, we are participating and not checking registration. So sorry, we won't receive an email or a voicemail.
    • Does your organization block Zoom? Be sure to test for Zoom access days in advance so you don't miss the training. Many people use their personal computers to avoid this firewall issue or schedule with IT services for permission.
    • We send the Zoom link a day or two before the event and the morning of the event (Pacific Time). Sometimes the access email may go to 'promotions,' 'junk,' or 'spam' folders.
